We kick off our journey from the pier to Vila Paraíso, known for its role in the movie “The Jungle.” Our exploration begins at the waterfront warehouse, where rubber was loaded onto boats. Next, we venture to the Rubber Master House, an imposing structure that serves as a testament to the prosperity of the rubber industry during its heyday and wartime significance. The tour continues with a visit to the “Large Tent,” where tools were stored and managed, followed by stops at the “Chapel” and the manioc flour warehouse. As we delve into the jungle, we’ll encounter the rubber tree and witness the latex collection process. Moving forward, we visit a house where latex balls undergo smoking. Finally, we explore a modest house where rubber extraction workers depict the lifestyles and customs of the bygone rubber extraction era. We then make our way back to the pier.
